After we sell your gown, Jan's will not re-order it for our inventory.  Most other stores will continue to re-order top selling styles knowing they can sell more of the same garment if it's in their stock.

Need to special-order your garment from another store or online retailer?  If you need to special order your garment, precise measurements must be taken to guarantee the perfect fit.  If you take measurements on your own or have a non-qualified person take them for you, you will special-order the wrong size.  Jan's certified fitters guarantee the right size will be ordered.

Special order something from another store or internet site with caution!  Jan's services hundreds of disappointed prom girls per season whom were told they would receive their garment by a specific time frame, and didn't.  Jan's follows-up on a daily basis with its manufacturers guaranteeing your special to arrive on time.

Q:  WHEN SHOULD I START SHOPPING FOR MY PROM GOWN?

A:  The best selection to choose from in Jan's and from the manufacturer is in January and February!   Most
manufacturers and stores normally sell out of their "popular styles" by the end of February and mid-March----or won't get more of these "popular styles" until April or May for those styles which they (the manufacturer) decide to re-cut.  Many customers with May prom dates think they can shop in April for their dream gown.  Unfortunately, many of our prom customers find out sometimes that "their dream gown" has been sold out everywhere since February!  The most popular styles sell really fast in our store and from the manufacturers inventory.  If you want your dream gown in the color and size of your choice then try to shop at Jan's before the end of March!  For those of you whom are reading this and wear a size 14 and up, manufacturers normally do not stock inventory in those sizes and your typical special order takes two to three months.  So it is even more important that you see Jan's before the end of February.  Also don't forget it can take as long as four weeks to alter your g
own.  For those of you reading this for the first time in the month of April or later, please note, that Jan's stocks well over 500 prom gowns in sizes 0 thru 26 and extra-small thru 3X.  You may find the gown of your dreams, but maybe not in your first color-choice or your exact size.  Jan's Boutique stocks ample inventory even towards the end of the season (April thru June).  So if possible, see us sooner than later!

Prom Girls ask your local store or online retailer these questions prior to giving them your money.  Saving a few bucks in the short term may not pay off in the long term!  If anyone whom you are considering doing business with can't say yes to all these questions listed below then don't do business with them. Remember one important thing, online retailers as well as brick and mortar stores have not been in business as long as Janâ?Ts Boutique. Our 35 year commitment to excellent customer service will ultimately keep us around for another 35 years because we take care of our customers before and after the sale.   If you are not purchasing your garment from Jan's then be sure to print this sheet out and ask your local store, boutique or online retailer these questions prior to giving them your money.

  1. Will (a store) re-order my garment if it was not ordered it in the correct size?

  2. Will (the online retailer) re-order my garment if I didn't take the proper measurements? 
    Please note: Brick and mortar stores sizes don't always coincide with online retailers, so the size you may be in a store isn't always the size that will fit you if you order online. 

  3. Can (the online retailer) show me swatches of the color choices of the garment I want to order?  An important note about color: The color of a garment you see on your computer will never will be the same color as seeing it in person.  All computer monitors vary significantly-----what you see online is not what you would expect in person!

  4. Will (a store or online retailer) refund my money if the garment comes in the wrong size and there isn't enough time to order another one?

  5. If the garment I am special ordering is estimated to arrive later than its original delivery date, will you (the store or online retailer) notify me as soon as you know?

    Please note: Approximately 5% of garments special ordered do not come in by its estimated arrival date (stores and online retailers will not tell you this prior to taking your money).  Jan's average rate of late arrivals is less than 1/2% because of our special relationships with its manufactures.  Because Jan's Boutique sells more eveningwear than any other store in the Delaware Valley we are considered a VIP client with its manufacturers/partners.  Brick and mortar stores and online retailers will not always tell you that your special order is arriving late either hoping it will finally arrive or because they are too busy to follow up with their manufacturers and you.

  6. Can (a store) guarantee the garment to be altered professionally by their seamstress or tailor?

  7. If you purchase from (an online retailer) and you get your garment altered will the tailor or seamstress you decide to use guarantee their work and pay for your garment if they ruin it?

  8. If my garment is butchered by your seamstress will (a store) stand behind my purchase and get me new one..free of charge?

  9. Will you (a store or online retailer) fix any loose beads, stones or any other embellishments which may come off or are not intact when my special order arrives...free of charge?

  10. Will you (the online retailer) make me pay the shipping charges if there are issues regarding my garment such as loose or missing beads, stones, or other embellishments that may have come off?

  11. Do you (the online retailer) even have anyone to fix any such issues or are you operating your business out of your basement?

  12. If your new garment is accidentally scratched by your ring and it leaves a noticeable pull in the fabric will (a store or online retailer) take the time to fix your garment? secondly does (a store or online retailer) have anyone capable to fix these type of issues?

  13. Will you (a store and online retailer) fix any loose beads, stones or any other embellishments which may come off after the prom..free of charge?

  14. If there is a security tag mistakenly left on my garment and you notice it the night of the prom, will you (a store) physically come to my house and remove it?

  15. Will you (a store or online retailer) steam out any wrinkles in my gown prior to my Prom?
